| 2000ish ~ 2002 learning to play drums in my 30s, approximately zero halcyon days of high school summer were spent perfecting the art of rhythm retention. nevertheless, with only a few sloppy chops in my pocket, i was determined to find a band. i scanned the classifieds every week until i found an ad— drugs ok, alcohol a plus—that mentioned absolutely nothing about skill level…and so it was that i found my first band. soon after, our vocalist met a girl who lured him to new york with promises of unicorns and rainbows and embroidered fannypacks filled with gold; the chapter closed as abruptly as it opened. all that remains—aside from an unmixed, unreleased studio recording and a handful of DIY cds—is a myspace homage page. sigh. listenings (reports from the interzone): soaked syphillis epiphany pinche |
